Opening Ceremony of the 15th Asian Games 2006
The 15th Asian Games was held in Doha from December 1 to 15, 2006. Doha is Qatar’s capital city and has about 600.000 inhabitants. The Asian Games involve sports competitions between athletes from different Asian countries. The first Asian sports contests were called Oriental Games and held at the Philippines in 1913. Six Asian countries then participated in the event and let their athletes compete against each other. After the 2nd World War people decided to start organizing sports contests again.
